The first crossing from Harlingen to Terschelling was rowed on Saturday, June 21, 1975 as part of the manifestation "100 years of Higher Maritime Academy Willem Barentsz" by the sloops "Houtman" and "De Rijp". This laid the foundation for the HT Sloop race. Incidentally, the approx. 34 km long crossing over the Wadden Sea is one of the toughest rowing trips in our country.
