8. The Harlingen - Terschelling Sloop Race 2014 viewed from the ship the "Riepel"
The Harlingen Terschelling sloop race (HT) 2014 seen from the ship the "Riepel". The HT is the queen's tour of sloop rowing races. It all started with the HT ... The first crossing from Harlingen to Terschelling was rowed on Saturday, June 21, 1975 as part of the manifestation "100 years of Higher Maritime Academy Willem Barentsz" by the sloops "Houtman" and "De Rijp". This laid the foundation for the HT Sloop race. Incidentally, the approx. 34 km long crossing over the Wadden Sea is one of the toughest rowing trips in our country. If the weather is not optimal, it will compete with waves, wind and tidal current. There are therefore regular dropouts in this race.
