Terschelling cheese factory gets new cheese machine
In 2014 the Terschelling kaasfabriek Terschellingerkaas got new machines. De kaasfabriek collaborates with the PolderPracht project of Vogelbescherming. For about six years, Vogelbescherming Nederland together with farmers and entrepreneurs on the island of Terschelling worked hard to secure meadow birds on the island. The PolderPracht concept turns out to be a real recipe for success. The milk is processed into cheese on the island, which means that less unnecessary and costly transport is needed. Consumers are happy to pay a little extra for the cheese products of this factory. The additional yields make it possible for farmers to manage at least 20% of their land Meadow bird-friendly.
