Asian Desert warbler on Terschelling
Halfway through November 13, 2015, a Asian Desert Warbler (Sylvia nana) was spotted on Terschelling by Jacob Jan de Vries together with Sipke Booi and Age Hulder. This was the third report of this species for the Netherlands and the first in over 21 years. The normal habitat of this species is from the Mediterranean to Mongolia. The creature was extremely tame and could be seen well by hundreds of avid bird watchers, many from the mainland. The animal has been searching for insects around the area of the harbour and marina of West-Terschelling for about a week. During that time, the hand-tame animal has been photographed and filmed thousands of times.
